You may be wondering how the viral meme holding space connects with mindfulness practice - let's explore together!

The phrase holding space has become a viral sensation after Tracy Gilchrist used the term during an interview with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as part of the Wicked Press Tour. The phrase has become an online viral sensation.

Speaking retrospectively on the interview and newfound viral fame, Tracey shared what it means to hold space:

"Holding space is being physically, emotionally and mentally present with someone or something. For me, it means being in the moment."

So, How Does This Connect with Mindfulness?

At its core, "holding space" and mindfulness share the same principle: being fully present in the moment. Just as Tracy describes being present without judgment or distraction, mindfulness encourages us to engage deeply with our current experience—whether that's focusing on our breath, our thoughts, or our surroundings.

Mindfulness is a form of meditation that helps you develop skills and techniques to cope with stress and anxiety, helping you make the most of your time and enjoy a calmer lifestyle.

What are the Benefits of Mindfulness?

1) Reduce stress & boost confidence.

2) Break out of the habit of automatic thinking to help challenge negative thinking habits.

3) Build resilience.

4) Become more equipped to deal with adverse situations, as being mindful of your present situation may impact how stressful it is perceived, creating a buffer from negative emotions.
