Help AWARE win £50,000 with Tesco Centenary Fund
We are delighted to announce that we have been selected by Tesco to go forward to a customer vote in Tesco stores throughout Northern Ireland during July and August to receive a grant of either £20,000, £30,000 or £50,000.
If we win the £50,000 grant, this money would enable AWARE to help build resilient children. We will train 400 young people and teachers across every post-primary school in Northern Ireland as Mental Health First Aiders. They will act as mental health champions in schools to give our children a lifelong foundation of good mental health. The teacher and pupil team will encourage a whole school approach to mental health. The teacher will provide continuity and input at a staff level. The young person will be a peer support that pupils can approach directly. Together they will champion a whole school approach to mental health.
Mental Health First Aid gives participants the knowledge and skills to provide help to a person developing a mental health problem or who is in a mental health crisis. This first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves
