Eddie’s ‘leap of faith’ raises £2500 for Aware Defeat Depression
A 23 year old Northern Ireland man who has been battling the illness of depression has raised an amazing £2500 by skydiving for Aware Defeat Depression.
Eddie McClenaghan, from Ballygawley in County Tyrone, has managed to raise a staggering £2500 through his amazing fundraising drive.
Eddie chose Aware Defeat Depression for the work we do in helping people recover from the illness of depression. As someone who has suffered from the illness himself, he knows all too well the difficulties which a person faces when it comes to seeking help. Eddie has been bravely blogging about his journey using the IAmDepressionAware.com blog.
Eddie McClenaghan said,
“I have been overwhelmed with the response I have had on my fundraising drive. The support of family and friends as well as local business such as Lavender Health Spa in Ballygawley, Quinn’s Corner, Cycle Recycle, K Magill & Company Chartered Accountants, C McRory, MJM Training and Signature Graphics has been immense and allowed me to give something back to the charity that does so much great work with people who really need help and support. I hope I have helped to raise awareness of the help that is out there in the process and made progress in breaking the stigma around mental health illness in this part of the world."
Kieran Hughes, Fundraising Officer for Aware Defeat Depression said,
“Eddie has been a fantastic advocate for Aware Defeat Depression. Not only has he raised a significant amount of money, but the work he has done in raising our profile and spreading the message of hope to people with depression is absolutely fantastic.
“Eddie has been very vocal about his battle with depression and how much this skydive has meant to him. I would like to thank him on behalf of everyone at Aware Defeat Depression for being such an inspirational, motivational and dedicated person."
