AWARE wins Fundraising Team of the Year
Congratulations to the AWARE Fundraising Team who won Fundraising Team of the Year at the Institute of Fundraising Awards on Thursday 6 June 2019.
The Fundraising Team has worked incredibly hard despite challenging situations and whole-heartedly deserve this accolade. The team consists of 1 Corporate Fundraiser, 2 Community Fundraisers and a Fundraising Assistant. They are supported by over 100 volunteers who contribute by leading community events, recruiting participants for events and raising our profile with corporate partners.
The impact of the work of the team on the organisation has been immense! In the 3 years leading up to 2018/19 the organisation had been in a challenging financial position with spending in excess of income. This was frustrating for the organisation knowing that valuable and necessary activity had to be curtailed due to lack of income. The fundraising team rose to the challenge of identifying new opportunities for fundraising and capitalising on this. Due to their outstanding achievement, the organisation is in a healthy financial position and the entire staff team are enthusiastically engaged in a new strategic planning process with an ambitious operational plan for this year. This is possible because of the income generated by this team. The impact has been one of changing the morale of the organisation to one which is much more positive and ambitious, were the potential is seen and all staff focus on how we can create the best possible outcomes for our clients.
The icing on the cake has been AWARE retaining the Ulster Bank One Week in June for a 2nd year – this is an amazing accomplishment for the organisation and will greatly benefit our service users.
