In Memory & Gifts in Wills

Click here to make a donation to AWARE

Gifts in lieu of flowers to AWARE will help to change lives in memory of your loved one. These gifts will help AWARE to deliver our life changing Educational and Training programmes to young people, those in later years, parents and employees. AWARE has 25 support groups across NI which are provided free to those suffering from depression, carers and family members.

Our work has an immediate impact on the lives of thousands of people every day, often at some of the most difficult times in a person’s life.

How we can help:

Supporting AWARE through gifts in lieu of flowers is easy and simple to do. We know there are many other difficult decisions to make at this time. Please contact our Fundraising team on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for support and advice.

If you are placing a family notice in the press you may wish to ask people to make a donation instead of sending flowers. In this case the following wording may be helpful:

“Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu, if desired, can be made payable to AWARE and posted to AWARE, 40-44 Duncairn Gdns BT15 2GG”.

We thank and recognise every gift

Everyone who makes a donation in memory of your loved one will receive a personal thank you from AWARE, as long as we have their contact details. AWARE will also send the next of kin, or the preferred representative, an update on the total amount received. All the money we receive is spent within Northern Ireland.

Leaving a gift in your will for AWARE

AWARE is the only mental health charity in Northern Ireland working exclusively for those with depression and bipolar disorder. Set up in Derry in 1996, we now have an established network of 23 support groups in rural and urban areas across the country, which are run by our trained volunteers.

We offer a range of mental health awareness programmes to people in schools and community settings teaching people the importance of looking after their mental health. These programmes include our six-week Living Life to The Full programme which is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and our suite of Mood Matters programmes which we offer to young people, adults, parents with babies and older people. All of the programmes we deliver are clinically governed.

Gifts in Wills

Depression is currently the leading cause of disability worldwide. We’re here to make sure that anyone with depression in Northern Ireland has somewhere to turn to for advice and support.

In order for us to reach out to as many people as we can, we rely on the generosity of people through donations, fundraising and gifts in wills. Your gift could help fund a local support group or deliver a mental health awareness programme into a class of 30 young people in secondary schools. Any gift that you can give will go directly towards our services to help make a difference to people whose lives have been affected by the illness of depression.
