GES Group raise £1,800 for AWARE at annual Christmas Communications Day
GES Group, a well-established local engineering company, have partnered with AWARE throughout the past year and will continue to support the depression charity throughout 2021. The company recently held their annual Christmas Communications Party (virtually due to COVID-19) and raised funds for AWARE in the process.
David Moore (CEO) of GES Group said: "As we all have had to move to a more virtual way of working and working from home due to the pandemic, we at GES Group had to change things up a little from our usual annual Christmas Communication Day (COMMS) where we would usually bring all staff together and present the past years performance and vision for the Company for the New Year; but in December 2020 we held our very own virtual COMMS Meeting which included an auction to support our charity partner, AWARE. We managed to raise an amazing £1,800.00 for the Charity.
“While many of us have become a little more anxious during Covid-19, the pandemic has either sparked or amplified much more serious mental-health problems in our working environment. As we now enter our second heightened lockdown restrictions, I fear that Covid-19 will further increase anxiety for many of us in the workplace, and experts warn a sizable minority could be left with mental health problems that outlast the pandemic”.
"We at GES have carefully chosen AWARE to provide the professional support to help prevent the mental health problem becoming a more serious concern for our employees. It’s important than none of us suffer in silence and that there is a path for all of us to seek professional help and advice first-hand. Thanks to the help of AWARE and especially to all our employees for their meaningful and kind contribution."
Lisa Abell-Farrelly of AWARE commented, “It has been great to work with all at GES Group over the past year and we are delighted to have received this incredible amount from the GES virtual COMMS meeting! After a difficult year due to COVID-19, the funds raised will enable AWARE to continue to support those affected by depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder through our support services and well-being programmes. Thank you to all involved for the continued support!”
